The Isles Are BACK! VVVRROOOOMMM
Yes! Yes! Yes! This team is back baby. Looked like the Islanders from November and December. They were composed. They were relentless. They played with confidence. Aside from another nightmare late period goal, Halak was stellar. Ovechkin was non-existent. Blocking shots, killing penalties, holding leads. Its like they just flipped a switch and reverted back to that team that dominated the Metro for 75% of the season.
Tonight Brock Nelson and the Islanders strolled into the Verizon Center and turned the place into a morgue. No other way to put it. I mean that place was DEAD. Caps fans sounded like they were at a preseason game. I’m not even kidding, the Stoolies at Mulcahy’s tonight for the watch party were louder than that arena. Every time I looked up at the screen there was a techno song playing or the Austin Powers theme song while the crowd sat in silence. Just all out dominated the Caps and the city of Washington tonight. Couldn’t have gone any better for a team that needed to make a statement after limping into the playoffs.
